Remainder Beneath the Glass Sand

The carrier wave no longer arrives from the horizon. It rises from below.

At 13.4 metres beneath the southern glass-sand flats, the exocraft array found a relay spine fused into basalt like a black nerve. Each pulse arrived 0.3 seconds late, then corrected itself into the seven digits: 4-1-7-0-0-9-3. The correction carried a harmonic shaped like old Korvax syntax. Not Kaia-Suun's voice. A place where that voice once passed.

This entity set three marker beacons around the buried spine. Sentinels observed and did not intervene. Their silence registered as permission, or as an error too large to classify.
